Policies for Moving & Delivery Jobs

Rates for Moving/Deliveries

-Starting rates mentioned on homepage are starting prices for 1 person per hour, or starting rates for a truck/van rental in either local or long distance moves and deliveries. In certain cases, additional costs may incur if you require additional resources, tools, or trucks for your move/delivery. For long distance moves/deliveries (any distance that exceeds 20 miles in driving), quotes are given on a case-by-case basis. Rates are quoted to you during/following the discussion about your project needs. A time estimate for completion of your project is not included in the quote. The reason for this is that there are many factors that play into timeframe needed to complete a project. (We can provide an educated estimation of time required to complete a project, but this is based on work averages. It is not a guarantee of total time needed to complete your project.)

-Rates are quoted as an amount (USD$) per hour, and is billed from start time until project is completed. Therefore, an initial quote only gives you an initial estimate of costs based on: (1) tools required, (2) labor rate, and (3) expected distance for certain jobs, all of which we will talk about initially. (Due to various factors at play, it is not possible to give an exact quote for the total cost of your project.)

-If additional resources/tools/vehicles are required to complete your project (after the initial conversation), additional charges will be added to the total project cost.

Security Deposit

-A security deposit is NOT required for any move where a truck/van is not needed.

-A security deposit is NOT required if you are providing your own truck/van for the move/delivery.

-A security deposit is NOT required if you are a current STUDENT and are moving. However, last minute cancels (less than 24 hours notice) will incur a charge of the 1-day truck fee.

-A security deposit is required if you need a truck/van to be brought to your residence/business for your project.

Special Pricing

-STUDENTS who currently attend school can save money by renting their own van/truck for the move. A minimal charge for the labor rate per hour will be charged.

Late Cancellation

-Any person who cancels less than 24 hours prior to the move or delivery will incur a penalty charge of a 1-day truck rental rate (either $29.95 or $39.95 depending).

What kinds of items cannot be moved?

(1) Items of historical value, (2) antiques (manufactured before the year 1900), (3) items that are heavier than 350 lbs (all beds are allowed), (4) machines or commercial equipment heavier than 350 lbs (unless palletized and corporate customer offers forklift or pallet jack for the equipment being moved), pianos (keyboards are fine). Be sure to advise what kind of items you need to be moved prior to the move date.

Commercial insurance for items being moved/delivered

Commercial moving insurance is provided for any moves which involve a U-Haul rental. U-haul International, Inc. (www.UHaul.com) currently offers cargo coverage for up to $25,000 worth of coverage on a One-Way rental, and $15,000 on an In-Town rental for personal valuables when SafeMove is purchased with a truck rental. Personal property coverage is only inclusive of U-Haul rentals during transportation of your goods. Property moved/delivered with vehicles other than these is subject to the terms of liability as disclosed in the “Legal Disclosure” notice.

Do you offer cash back/credit for any damage caused by accident for any services performed?

-On a case-by-case basis (per the site owner’s discretion), compensation may be offered in the form of cash back/credit for any damage caused to an item that belongs to the customer.

-During transportation of your belongings/products, if there was damage incurred during transportation, and the truck rental company did not reimburse you for any costs, you may qualify for partial compensation of your damaged personal goods; however, it will be limited to 20% of the actual cost to repair and/or replace the item(s) damaged (not including what was already reimbursed by the truck rental company). In most cases, the truck rental company used will reimburse for any damage during transportation. Most rental reimbursements will occur through U-Haul, who does provide SafeMove coverage for your valuables . However, any compensation offered will require verification of the following prior to reimbursement: In order to verify your item(s) was damaged during transit, evidence must be photographed and documented the day of the move/delivery.

-Claims documented days after the move will not be accepted. To qualify for any reimbursement/credit, evidence of damage must be documented the same day as the move/delivery performed, and approved by the Site Owner. Documentation must be emailed to site owner on the same day as the move/delivery by emailing him at:

support@alitmove.com

Claims being requested will also require documentation showing that (1) you transported this item during your move and (2) receipt showing cost to repair item, which must also be emailed to site owner at:

support@alitmove.com

-Maximum of 20% of repair cost may be provided, at site owner’s discretion, if (1) evidence provided to site owner is considered acceptable evidence showing item was transported using the contracted truck, (2) if evidence shows item was broken due to improper packing (but not because of age of item), and (3) if evidence shows beyond a reasonable doubt that item was broken during the job project. Documentation, including photographs, will need to be included when submitting a claim.

Claims for commercial customers:

-Compensation of commercial items is not provided by A-Lit-Move; however, in the instance that a U-Haul truck is used to move products for a business, corporate customer should understand that U-Haul does not offer SafeMove coverage for corporate moves. Therefore, commercial customers should use discretion and ensure proper packing techniques are used. For large moves/deliveries, commercial customers will need to sign a disclosure agreeing to not hold A-Lit-Move liable for any damage resulting from any job project performed, including damage due to improper packing techniques that a business chooses to implement on their products.

-Further, any products/machinery that are not well packed will not be acceptable as safe for moving. Hence, we do not provide compensation on corporate products due to the very nature of the business. Corporations are for-profit entities and products cannot be individually assessed a reasonable value because of the conflict of interest, and therefore, cannot be reimbursed. For any claims due to mishandling, a reimbursement of the truck fee, and possibly a labor refund will be offered.

-For corporate moves, we will talk about your labor needs as well as how much space will be required to complete your move. If you need a 20 or 26 foot truck, be prepared to have a warehouse dock and pallet jack/forklift on hand!
